DRC Receives Boeing Performance Excellence
Award
DRC was recently recognized as a Boeing
Performance Excellence Award (BPEA) supplier for 2007. The
Boeing Company has awarded DRC a 2007 BPEA for achieving a
gold level of performance over the 12 month period. DRC was
one of more than 250 companies out of approximately 10,000
Boeing worldwide suppliers to receive a silver or gold level
performance award. As a result of this distinction, DRC is
now a full participant in the Boeing supplier program, which
includes linking the DRC and Boeing sites and source
selection preference based on performance levels.
DRC is one of 23 Tier 1 partners that work
with Lead System Integrator Boeing on the Future Combat
Systems (FCS), one of the largest procurement programs the
Army has ever undertaken. FCS is a multi-billion-dollar
research and development program spanning more than 10 years
and encompassing the fielding of entire brigades with new,
state-of-the-art equipment and a fully networked battle
command system. The program is being successfully
implemented on time and on budget.
Embedded training is an important enabling
technology for FCS. DRC is helping FCS implement this
technology by providing support in five areas:
-
Mission and Task Analysis
-
Training Support Package (TSP)
Development
-
Unit Trials Support
-
FCS Experimentation Support
-
Task Database
Design/Development/Management
DRC was selected by the FCS Lead Systems
Integrator to develop and lead the mission and collective
task analysis process. In collaboration with our FCS
partners, we developed a hybrid approach to task analysis.
This approach incorporates a new training vision for the
FCS-equipped Brigade Combat Team — a combination of live,
virtual, and constructive simulation and multi-mode
training, contained in an electronic embedded training
system.
Our analysis methodology extends beyond a
traditional job task analysis to capture additional data
valuable to system engineering teams responsible for
developing embedded FCS training functionality.
DRC has developed a web-enabled database
tool to support managers and training analysts in conducting
the enhanced task analysis. This tool provides analysts with
the ability to specify the range of conditions that will
impact the difficulty of performing the task. This
information is essential to unit commanders in implementing
a crawl-walk-run training regimen and embedded training
system developers in identifying functionality needed to
support simulation capabilities. A separate module is being
developed for design, development, management and storage of
the TSPs themselves.
DRC will continue to support the FCS
training objectives. The output from our FCS task analysis
will be the basis for design and development of
simulation-based TSPs. These TSPs will represent a radically
different approach to Army training for the FCS-equipped
Brigade Combat Team. The TSPs will be delivered
electronically to each FCS platform and enable training
using any combination of live, virtual and constructive
approaches.
