Navy Medicine Information Systems Support Activity (NAVMISSA) Information Assurance
(IA)
Challenge
NAVMISSA needed strong technical support
in a number of Cyber Security areas.
Solution
-
Network Administration – DRC
applied security policies to NAVMISSA/Bureau of Medicine
and Surgery (BUMED) network
routers and perimeter security devices to ensure
network-level security from outside attack or internal
exploitation of access permissions.
-
Network Security Assessment –
DRC conducted a network security assessment for NAVMISSA
to identify vulnerabilities and to ensure that the
NAVMISSA/BUMED network complied with Navy and Military
Health System (MHS)
security policies.
-
Technical Security Support –
DRC provided technical expertise in the areas of program
support, firewall security, IDS security, security
assessments, and other security practices. This support
encompassed: security policies, procedures, and
guidance; analysis, and modeling; certification and
accreditation; firewall assessment, design,
implementation, and management; information assurance;
centralized authentication; security strategic planning;
