The Institute of Medicine report, To
Err Is Human reported 98,000 deaths as the result of
medical error in US hospitals in 1999. Since then, the
national emphasis on patient safety and error reduction has
lead to the acceptance of team training, based on aviation
Crew Resource Management principles, as a tool to promote
better teamwork and communication in healthcare.
Solution
The

management has been trained to over 70 hospitals across the
US. Primarily used by high-risk clinical areas like Labor
and Delivery or the Emergency Department, the teamwork
concepts have been effectively transitioned to all areas of
