Joint Event Scheduling System (JESS)

Challenge

The Joint Staff lacked integrated force employment data to support Joint planning.

Solution

JESS is a force management tool that provides automated event management, scheduling and deconfliction capabilities to the U.S. Joint Forces Command (USJFCOM). The JESS improves management of DoD force employment for Joint operations, training exercises, experiments, demonstrations, and evaluations. The JESS provides USJFCOM with visibility into real-world events, global force presence, and transportation requirements to ensure that the plans they develop can be executed with available and ready forces.

JESS augments the proven Joint Training Information Management System (JTIMS) and employs web-based technology and a centralized database to deliver information to users throughout the world. The JESS is a multi-user system that is platform independent and employs a state-of-the-art user interface. The JESS combines event management, scheduling, readiness, and deployment data from identified joint and Service systems. JESS enables USJFCOM to deconflict requests for resources, assist in a more efficient use of resources, and improve the utilization of assets for operations, training, and other needs.
