Challenge
The Air Force Materiel Command (AFMC)
has several logistics legacy systems and future legacy
replacement systems. The quality of information provided by
these systems is directly related to the quality of the
underlying data contained in them. AFMC needed to
proactively identify erroneous data and its causes, and
monitor the data to ensure accuracy, consistency,
completeness, and currency.
Solution
DRC determined the extent of the
problems the Air Force is having with its logistics data
quality system. We identify discrepancies, initiate
corrections and provide visibility data on data quality. We
also maintain web applications to assist in the tracking,
scanning and organizing of data, identifying anomalies in
the system and correcting them.
DRC conducts research to resolve
identified problems in interfacing systems, internal
databases and/or outputs. When data corrections are
necessary they are accomplished in a timely and accurate
fashion in order to maintain system schedules and data
integrity for use in budget projection and program execution
activities. Our support includes providing data queries,
analysis of requirements data, training to users, assistance
in business process software testing, internet web
reporting, model analyses, and attending/providing input to
planning/strategy sessions.
Benefits/Achievements
Maintaining high data quality is an
essential factor in the Air Force's ability to maintain
cost-efficiency and readiness as well as streamlining
logistics and supply chain management. Over the past decade,
DRC has provided the Air Force with data quality management
services, which have resulted in significant improvements in
efficiency and data governance.
