System for Enhanced Reliability, Traceability, Analysis,
And Control (SERTAC)
Challenge
The TRIDENT Guidance Office needed a
system to capture data on missile guidance systems from
contractors and operators stored in disparate
repositories. The system had to integrate data across
multiple disciplines and provide secure, worldwide
access.
Solution
DRC maintains and operates SERTAC and
the associated Guidance Data Warehouse (GDW) Data Systems,
which provide an efficient and effective central source for
data and services. SERTAC is a web-based system that tracks
more than 17,000 components. DRC provides all aspects
of Data Warehouse services including extraction,
transformation, loading, storing, and retrieving, analyzing
and reporting data.
DRC also develops, hosts, and maintains
many specialized project web sites that allow collaborative
project information storage and exchange with controlled
access. DRC developed, implemented and maintains
web-enabled workflow/process management systems for several
applications. DRC systems provide "the right data at the
right time to the right people." All practices adhere to the
SEI CMM standard and comply with T9001A requirements.
Benefits/Achievements
Several of the key benefits of SERTAC
are that it :
- Helps the Navy assess vendor quality
by providing data on the components provided by each
vendor.
- Permits Navy personnel to "find any
part, anywhere" in the system.
- Accurately describes current
performance and forecasts future inventory.
- Proactively identifies repair
problems before they happen.
