Defense Logistics Agency Lean Six Sigma (LSS)/Continuous Process Improvement Support
Challenge
The Defense Logistics Agency is the
Department of Defense's largest logistics combat support
agency, providing worldwide logistics support in both
peacetime and wartime to the military services as well as
several civilian agencies and foreign countries. DLA needed
an experienced team with detailed knowledge of DLA mission
requirements to take their LSS/CPI program to the next
level.
Solution
DRC will apply its proven LSS/CPI
processes to assist DLA in:
- Conducting Value Stream Mapping and
Analyses
- Conducting Executive Planning
Sessions
- Facilitating Lean Six Sigma events
- Providing just-in-time LSS/CPI and
Champion training
- Providing mentoring and project
coaching to DLA Green Belt and Black Belt candidates.
Benefits/Achievements
DRC is applying the same proven
methodology that we have successfully employed on a wide
range of DOD LSS/CPI projects. Again and again, this
methodology has allowed war fighters to increase mission
performance and at the same time drive thousands of hours
and millions of dollars from the entire logistics supply
chain.
DRC's methodology is designed to achieve
cultural CPI transformation; gain the full endorsement of
key stake holders; and quickly achieve improvements in DLA
performance. It is based on the true and focused alignment
of CPI to the strategic goals of the DLA. It uses a highly
innovative approach which integrates Policy Deployment with
Enterprise Value Streams. The approach identifies the
strategic gaps and system constraints within an organization
and ultimately the elusive, but real, focal areas where the
LSS methodologies need to be applied. The bottom line is
that this approach will achieve true strategic alignment of
CPI, every event and project will move the organization
towards its strategic goals and desired end state; there
will be a clear line of site between executive leadership
and each initiative.
