Affairs [OASD(PA)] Web Support
Challenge
The OASD(PA) needed extensive IT
support for its headquarters and field activities.
Solutions
DRC provides full life cycle support for
OASD web sites and web-based applications, including on-site
project management, applications development, web page
design and maintenance, and operational support. DRC uses
web technology to disseminate information in text, audio,
and video formats to DoD personnel worldwide. Our systems
use template components, libraries of images, and
customizable layouts to publish local content within the
context of the global environment. DRC supports over 1,000
web sites for OASD(PA)'s Armed Forces Information Service (AFIS)
(e.g.,
www.defendamerica.mil,
www.defenselink.mil,
www.americasupportsyou.mil). DRC has provided the
following support:

Primary content to all OASD websites,
as well as 24/7 support, server administration, content
management, helpdesk support and training.

Set up the new server infrastructure
from the ground up, to support OASD(PA). This included
ensuring that all of the servers are registered with DISA and compliant with Government regulations.

Helped OASD(PA) keep pace with the
New Media mandate by incorporating programs such as
Sound Slides and Adobe Audition to create a
next-generation photo essay format for DoD websites.

Designed and implemented an XML
Flash component on the America Supports You website to
easily create and customize slideshows.
Benefits/Achievements
- Migrated 31 OSD public web sites from DTIC to AFIS for hosting, with no down time or
interruption to the live web sites
- Implemented "GovDelivery" system
application, which provides citizens with better service
and access to relevant DoD information, proactively
delivering the new information through e-mail and
wireless alerts.
- Seamlessly transferred 10 years worth
of data from
www.Defenselink.mil into a new content management
system.
