Ohio Department of Job and Family Services (ODJFS)
Statewide Network
Challenges
The State of Ohio needed a large network
for more than 18,000 users – for the Support Enforcement
Tracking System (SETS), the SACWIS program, and the Ohio
Works First (OWF) program. Individual county network
structure had to be supported; the failure rate for
previously installed networks was very high.
Solutions
DRC designed and installed a statewide
network for the phased implementation of Ohio's ODJFS
programs. This included the purchase and installation of all
network equipment, routers, hubs, and switches as well as
the file servers, PCs, and printers that would reside on the
network. DRC implemented and operated a network Help Desk
and provided the support required to maintain and service
the network. When the Ohio SETS PCs required more memory,
DRC upgraded all PCs within a 90-day period.
DRC provided training to one Technical
Point of Contact (TPOC) in each county to assist in
troubleshooting network problems locally. In addition, DRC's
rigorous staging process ensured that all hardware and
software for a particular site was thoroughly pre-tested
prior to implementation.
Benefits/Achievements
- Fast, responsive, and accurate
service ensured the successful implementation of all
phases of the program.
- Pre-onsite installation staging
enabled successful reduction in on-site equipment
failure rate to a level that was significantly better
than industry standard performance.
