VA (Department of Veterans Affairs) Internet Technical
(IT) Support
Challenge
The VA needed highly qualified IT
infrastructure support on a number of key programs.
Solutions
DRC has supported the Veteran's
Online Application (VONAPPS) program since its inception
and continues to provide maintenance and upgrade support.
VONAPP is an online facility for veterans to file claims for
benefits, including compensation and pension, vocational
rehabilitation, and education benefits. The site provides a
secure Internet version of the paper forms used by the VA,
augmented with context-sensitive help features. VONAPP is
fully Section 508 compliant.
DRC manages the Veterans Health
Administration (VHA) "mini-banking"
system for veterans in the VHA medical system. Veteran's
Personal Financial System (VPFS) is a secure, web-based,
transaction-enabled application capable of servicing
thousands of patient account transactions. Our cross-browser
solution is based on a state-of-the-art J2EE/Oracle-based
framework.
DRC provides critical system
administration, database administration, and software
development support to the Veterans Affairs Information
Technology Center (VA ITC). Our system, network and
database administration tasks range from monitoring and
evaluating system degradations to making appropriate network
and security changes due to growth and changes in
technology. In addition, we produce standard, custom, and
ad-hoc web-based reports that catalog network and
application activity.
In support of the Virtual VA Program,
the DRC staff provides IV&V support, conducts regression
testing, and supports, maintenance updates.
Benefits/Achievements
- CIO Magazine recognized VONAPP as one
of the top 50 Internet applications for 2001.
- DRC successfully implemented network
and security changes to accommodate growth and changes
in technology.
- Our IV&V support resulted in
thousands of dollars saved for the VA.
