Defense Acquisition University (DAU) Distance Learning
Challenge
The DAU
has responsibility for training the DoD acquisition
workforce. The acquisition workforce is graying--50% of
them were eligible for retirement at the end of 2005. In
addition, DoD transformation initiatives are causing major
changes in acquisition policies and procedures. As a result,
the acquisition community must significantly upgrade its
skill base.
Solution
In order to meet these challenges, DAU
is transforming itself from a brick and mortar institution
to a virtual learning and job performance support center. In
support of these objectives, DRC employed our proven
Instructional system development methods to develop both
short job performance support courses and longer, more
detailed certification courses such as Performance-Based
Logistics.
Benefits/Achievements
All of DRC's courses are SCORM and 508
compliant and provide just-in-time, cost-effective training
to the federal acquisition workforce. The certification
courses that DRC has developed helped to triple the student
throughput capacity of DAU.
