High Performance Team Training
Challenge
Research revealed that Army crew
coordination failures from FY84-89 contributed to 147
aviation fatalities and cost more than $290 million.
Solution
DRC began its industry-leading team
training work in Army aviation by developing a comprehensive
team training program to reduce team errors among Army
aviators. DRC later produced a medical team training program
that was grounded in the lessons learned from two decades of
our aviation safety team training. More recently, DRC has
successfully transitioned our team training products to
ground systems.
Benefits/Achievements
Results of a validation study on DRC's
aviation team training program provided evidence for a
number of significant improvements, including a 20%
improvement in mission performance and a 40% reduction in
safety related errors. The Army estimated that they would
save 15 lives and nearly $30 million by implementing the
program. The MedTeams® program was also scientifically
validated in a series of studies. The results of these
studies indicated that the program could potentially save $4
to $10 per patient.
Examples of team training include
Digital Battle Command Team Training
(DBCTT).
